the brief
To announce the entrance of the Oregon Ducks in to the Big 10 athletic conference, we were tasked with creating a hype video sharing the history of Oregon athletics. Using archival footage, compositing and animation, we walk through the program's defining moments, culminating with an exciting look towards Oregon's future in the Big 10.
The project scope includes social media cut downs as well as a full-length two-minute cut that was shown in Oregon sports stadiums for the 2024-25 season.
Each major sports moment was first designed by Sam Erickson using archival assets provided by the client, animated by myself and Josiah Schwahn, and ultimately edited together by Josiah Schwahn.
the process
To establish cohesion between the scenes, each major sports moment was first designed by Sam Erickson using archival assets (left column). From these stills, I decided on elements to animate and created camera movements to align with the guiding voice over (right column). Using the design decks as guides, I created additional material and incorporated supplemental assets to add visual interest in different areas of each scene.
